I picked up the Sony WH-CH720N for about $79, and it's met every need I have for a pair of everyday headphones. The sound is clear and well-balanced. The noise canceling does a good job of quieting what's around me, and they're comfortable enough to wear for long stretches.
You can spend a lot more on headphones, but for most people I don't think you need to. These give you the Sony name, good sound, and real noise canceling without the flagship price.
